Kela’s Research Publication Series

Published 12.4.2022

Electronic versions of the research publications in our series are available free of charge in Helda-Digital Repository (helda.helsinki.fi). Printed versions can be ordered from Helda or by sending an email to julkaisut@kela.fi.

Studies in Social Security and Health

Manuscripts accepted in the series should meet the criteria for high-quality scientific research. The manuscripts must demonstrate profound knowledge of the theme. Furthermore, they should be based on solid, theoretically founded empirical research or theoretical and conceptual analysis.

Peer-reviewed. The series is published electronically and in print.

Reports in Social Security and Health

Manuscripts accepted in the series include theoretical or empirical studies or reviews with a less comprehensive theoretical basis compared to those in the Studies series.

Peer-reviewed. The series is only published electronically.

Thematic Series

Manuscripts accepted in the series are compendiums reporting research findings. Publications in the series are often multidisciplinary.

Peer-reviewed. The series is published electronically and in print.

Working Papers

Presentations of preliminary results, reports, short literature reviews, and descriptions of data and methods are accepted in the series. Publications in the series deal with, for example, current issues.

The series is only published electronically.

Stand-Alone Publications

At our discretion, we also publish manuscripts outside the series. Stand-alone publications undergo a peer review process if necessary.

Peer Review

Studies in Social Security and Health, Reports in Social Security and Health, and Thematic Series undergo a peer review process, where two independent experts provide a written statement about the manuscript.

In our peer-reviewed publications, we use the Federation for Finnish Learned Societies’ peer review label. The editorial board of Kela’s research publications is committed to comply with the conditions set for the use of the label.
