Medicine Shortages
Published 15.6.2021 Edited 29.8.2024
Medicine shortages are a significant and constantly growing phenomenon that has been identified as a global problem. In this study, we investigate which types of pharmaceuticals are affected by shortages. In addition, we study the connection between medicine shortages and medicine life cycle phase and price level as well as the existence of interchangeable products. The data comprise Fimea’s shortage notifications combined with data from Kela’s medicine database, Fimea’s list of interchangeable medicines, and pharmaceutical database.
