The Core Components of KELA’s Cardiac Rehabilitation From the Client’s Point of View
Abstract
Core components refer to the factors through which the desired effects of rehabilitation are made possible and which lead to the desired results. There is much of literature on core components for cardiac rehabilitation. Yet, little is known about the implementation of the core components, especially from clients’ experience-based perspective. The purpose of this study was to examine the most important and helpful components of rehabilitation from the point of view of clients who attended Kela’s cardiac rehabilitation. Based on qualitative content analysis of five group-interviews, the core components were: 1) client’s own action 2) contents of rehabilitation, and 3) implementation of rehabilitation. The contents of the rehabilitation adapted the core elements of cardiac rehabilitation defined in the literature. The client's experience of the realization and implementation of the cardiac rehabilitation were significant for his or her rehabilitation, which should be taken into account both in defining the core components of rehabilitation and in the planning and development of rehabilitation.
