Consents and denials of consent in Kanta Services

Health and social service professionals can search the Kanta Services for customer information recorded elsewhere in health and social services, such as another wellbeing services county or a private healthcare centre. The customer can influence the extent to which the health and social service professionals treating them can use their information in connection with the service.

The customer may give consent to use the information or limit the consent in MyKanta or in connection with a health and social service appointment. Consents can be given and limited after the customer has received and acknowledged the Kanta notification about the use of their information. At the end of 2025, 5.3 million people have received the Kanta notification. Of these, 72% were received through MyKanta.

The majority of people who have received the notification have given consent to use their information in health care. Social services can store consents and set limits at the customer’s request and retrieve information recorded elsewhere from Kanta Services once the necessary changes have been made to the information systems. For this reason, fewer consents to disclose social service customer information have been given so far.
